CNN: The Parade of Royal Mummies is a grand celebration of Egypt's history and its greatest treasures

.......................

The American CNN network shed light on Egypt's preparedness for a procession to transfer royal mummies to the Museum of Civilization in Fustat, and said that 22 kings and queens will be transferred from their current resting place to a new home after they roam the streets of Cairo in a majestic royal procession

She said the transfer looks like the plot of a movie, but is in fact part of a luxurious celebration of Egypt's history, and a project to transfer some of its greatest treasures to a new high-tech facility

On Saturday, the mummies of Ramses II and 21 of his pharaohs will participate in what is called "The Golden Show of the Pharaoh", a long-awaited event organized by the Egyptian Ministry of Tourism and Antiquities

It is reported that the celebrations will include horse-drawn carriages and choirs singing in ancient languages and a large number of movie stars and VIPs, but the Egyptian authorities have kept the official details of the event secret

The network shed light on the enthusiasm of the Egyptians, who recently followed the rehearsals in central Cairo and quickly posted photos of mummies vehicles made especially for the event and decorated with old golden decorations, on social media

The final step

She said that the aim of the show is to transfer 18 kings and four queens of Egypt, along with their coffins and possessions, from their old home in the Egyptian Museum. They will be transported five kilometers south, to their new high-tech headquarters at the National Museum of Egyptian Civilization (NMEC)

The Network explained to its foreign readers that the Museum of Civilization is not the Grand Egyptian Museum in Giza, which is scheduled to open to the public later this year. She said the Museum of Civilization is a completely different museum in the Fustat neighborhood of Cairo that would complement a trio of must-visit Egyptian-style museums in and around Cairo

Although the Museum of Civilization was partially opened in 2017, the show will signify the grand opening

"The whole idea is not the mummies, the whole idea is how to display the mummies ... It's the way you tell the story, it's the environment, it's the atmosphere you feel when you enter them," said Ahmed Ghoneim, executive director of the National Museum of Egyptian Civilization

Ghoneim says that visitors entering the Royal Mummies Hall will experience something like entering a tomb in the Valley of the Kings

All 22 royal mummies date from the New Kingdom, an era in which underground tombs were built with hidden entrances to ward off tomb robbers, in a clear difference from their Old Kingdom counterparts who built massive pyramidal tombs.
